When going hiking you often don´t need luxurious hotel, but if you plan on spending there about a week and have other activities going on as well, a good hotel is welcome. That is why I have tried newly reconstructed hotel – Hotel Lomnica. I must admit it was one of the best hotels in High Tatras that I stayed in, even though it had some glitches. But I am sure they will work on these as the hotel is freshly opened. The Hotel is also known by its gallery and paintings on the walls through the whole hotel – it is essentially a gallery in which you can live.
Walking in to the hotel, your luggage and car are taken care of. You get a welcome drink while receptionist is checking you in and you get a small walk around the hotel showing you what is where leading to your room. The room was spacious enough. Big and comfy bed goes without saying. There was a table if you needed to work, smart TV with YouTube and Spotify and beautiful bathroom with shower. As usual you get shower gel, shampoo, etc., there is a minibar, hair-dryer, wardrobes and even books for you to read through. If you have kids, they will get plush bear which is their mascot.
The food was very nice. There are two restaurants – one for breakfast and dinner in style of having 3 or 5 courses and one restaurant was a la carte with only few mains, some of which change on daily/weekly basis. All are prepared by one of the best chefs in Slovakia so you can imagine how good all of the food was! There is also a bar with terrace outside where you can get almost any drink you like (ask for specials as not everything is on the drink list!)
If you want to have some fun there is games room with table football and similar games. For kids, the hotel gets animators during the weekend so if you want to go for a drink and have someone to take care of your child, make use of this. The animator didn´t show up once, not sure what happened there and whose fault it was. There is also a room full of games and TV for the kids, but you will have to stay in with them. You can also visit the gallery which is next to one of the restaurants and is opened most of the time.
If you like wellness make sure to check out their massages, treatments and pools. There are lots of funky treatments using gold, etc. which you can´t get on too many places in Slovakia. There is also pool and outside hot tub. Just have a look!
